Diabetes Self-Management Education Support services

American Diabetes Association

Olean General Hospital's Diabetes Self-Management and Support Services is designed as a comprehensive program addressing all aspects of diabetes self-management.

Olean General Hospital was the first diabetes education program in Western New York to be recognized by the American Diabetes Association. The program has been continuously recognized for meeting the ADA's stringent quality criteria since March 1993.

Classes will resume in July. However, due to COVID-19, all classes/meetings are limited to 10 people.

Group Classes

Each patient is provided an initial assessment session to determine their personal educational needs prior to attending class. Classes are offered at least eight times per year and are held once a week for three weeks. Many insurances pay for all or part of the cost.
