Olean General Hospital Nurse Receives Annual Achievement Award from Emergency Nurses Association

Posted on: 10/19/2015

Olean General Hospital is pleased to announce that Jacquelyn Glendinning, RN, is the recipient of the Emergency Nurses Association’s Barbara A. Foley Quality, Safety and Injury Prevention Award. The Barbara A. Foley Quality, Safety and Injury Prevention Award is one of the Association’s 13 Achievement Awards bestowed this year. The Annual Awards recognize emergency nurses who exemplify exceptional professional practice, innovation, leadership and advocacy in emergency nursing.

Glendinning will be recognized during the Awards Gala at ENA’s national conference, October 3, in Orlando. Healthcare professionals nominate colleagues who are extraordinary practitioners and continually go above and beyond the call of duty in emergency nursing.

“I am inspired by this year’s Annual Achievement Award recipients as they are true examples of people making a positive impact on emergency nursing,” said ENA president Matthew F. Powers, MS, BSN, RN, MICP, CEN. “We are committed to excellence in emergency nursing, so it’s an honor to recognize Jacquie’s contributions, and we look forward to sharing her success story with our members.”

Glendinning is the Cattaraugus County Emergency Nurses’ Association ENA Chapter President, and 2015 President Elect of the New York State Emergency Nurses’ Association. Jacquie joined Olean General Hospital in 1987.
A 28-year OGH employee, Glendinning has been actively involved at Olean General Hospital in Community Outreach and Education through a Bicycle Helmet Program and “Buddy’s First Visit”, where elementary school children visit the Emergency Department to familiarize themselves with the environment should they have to visit the Emergency Department for their own emergency.

Glendinning has also successfully implemented a dog bite and dog safety education program for children after observing to many dog bite cases, prompting her to become involved with Dog Bite Prevention, teaching children how to act and react appropriately around dogs.
