Gail Bagazzoli, BSN, RN, has been appointed chief nursing officer at Olean General Hospital, a Kaleida Health facility and member hospital of Upper Allegheny Health System. Bagazzoli will continue to serve as vice president of quality for UAHS, which includes OGH and Bradford Regional Medical Center.

In her new role, Bagazzoli will be responsible for nursing at OGH while continuing her work in maintaining quality initiatives across the health system. She has served as vice president of quality since 2014, which includes oversight of quality management, patient safety, performance improvement, risk management and infection control at OGH and BRMC.

“Gail is well known across our organization for her leadership, knowledge and commitment to the highest standards of quality and patient care. She is respected at our hospitals and in the community. We have every confidence in her abilities to lead our nursing division at OGH,” said Timothy J. Finan, president and CEO, UAHS.

“Gail has the unique ability to focus on multiple initiatives and achieve success,” said Jeff Zewe, senior vice president and chief operating officer, UAHS. “She has a solid record of accomplishment and most recently led OGH and BRMC through a successful Joint Commission survey.”

An Olean native, Bagazzoli’s 38-year nursing career at OGH includes working in medical/surgical, critical care, clinical nurse education, employee health, industrial health, casino clinic, and emergency department. She was emergency department nurse manager, clinical and patient education manager, infection prevention nurse manager, formed the first ethics committee, and led the development of nursing standards of practice, performance improvement, employee satisfaction and infection control.
