Anyone experiencing symptoms of a life-threatening condition, such as heart attack or stroke, should call 911 immediately and get to the closest emergency room.
We are taking a proactive approach at OGH. As more information is becoming available we will be making additional changes, but here are the latest updates:
NO VISITORS (effective 10-6-20)
Due to community spread of COVID-19 and out of an abundance of caution, we are suspending patient visitation at OGH effective immediately.
Hospital visitation is permitted as follows:
Obstetrics patients – one support person and designated doula
Pediatrics -- one parent or legal guardian at a time (two parents/guardians may alternate)
Patients at end-of-life -- up to two visitors at a time
Surgical/procedural outpatient -- one visitor to accompany patient, receive discharge instructions and transport patient home
Special situations will be determined on a case-by-case basis for end of life/comfort care and other special circumstances such as when a visitor is essential to the care of the patient as determined by the nurse manager, including COVID-19- positive patients. Specific policies are in place as determined by state regulations. Full visitation policy.
The following visitors will not be allowed:
All inpatients (special situations in place)
Emergency department (unless deemed medically necessary)
Visitors for in-patients, including COVID-19 positive patients and suspected cases of COVID-19
Persons with fever or other cold and flu-like symptoms
Minors under the age of 18 (except in rare situations, approved in advance)
Behavioral health unit
Marie Lorenz Outpatient Dialysis Center
Outpatient testing and physician practices unless special circumstances
Special situations where a visitor is permitted include patients with intellectual or developmental disabilities, communication barrier, behavioral concerns, significant changes in a patient's condition or a request for clergy.
OGH has new capabilities to arrange for virtual visits via iPad. Patients can contact pastoral care or a nurse regarding how to connect with loved ones. For more information on virtual visits, click here.
Thank you for your understanding.
