

"This is our first OGH Wellness 5K Walk/Run," said Todd Oliver, O.R. technician at OGH. "We're doing it to encourage better health and wellness for local families, and to support awareness of a local health issue.”
Walkers and runners will enjoy a panoramic walk along the Allegany River Trail to Gargoyle Park and return to start line at St. Bonaventure University.
The annual walk, sponsored by Olean General Hospital with the assistance of OGH staff and the following supporters: Brooker Oil, Inc., Dr. Tahir Chauhdry at Women’s Health of WNY, Dr. David DiMarco, LSI Solutions, MIX 101.5, Pleasant Valley Nursery, Southern Tier Anesthesiologists, ETC... is intended to support health and wellness in the community. One hundred percent of the event’s registration fees will be donated to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to fight blood cancers.
People can get leukemia at any age. In 2008, over 40,000 adults and 3,000 children are expected to develop leukemia and about 71,000 people living in the United States will be diagnosed with lymphoma in 2008. Timothy Finan, president & CEO of Olean General Hospital said, “I’m proud of our employees for coordinating the annual OGH Wellness 5k Walk/Run to help raise funds for health-related issues and research.”
Advance registration forms are available on-line at www.ogh.org and should be mailed by May 17 with a $15 pre-registration fee made payable to “The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society” and mailed to: Olean General Hospital, Attn: Karen McClelland, 515 Main Street, Olean, NY 14760. All pre-registered walkers and runners will receive a t-shirt. Participants may also register on the day of the event for $20.
