Harriet Nevil - Manager
Regardless of what the specific circumstances are, often these patients may have completed their acute hospital stay, but they may not be able to perform certain functions such as getting dressed, walk around, or tie their shoes. They may also still require nursing care. In the past, patients at Olean General Hospital who needed this level of care - known as sub-acute because it comes after the acute post-medical/surgical care - had to be transferred to another facility. This made circumstances harder on the patient, the family, and the physician. With OGH's new sub-acute program, patients can "swing" from their acute care, directly into the sub-acute program without having to leave the hospital. This allows a continuity of care with the same medical records, physician, and hospital services available.
Olean General Hospital’s Subacute Rehab Unit offers Skilled Nursing along with Physical, Occupational, Speech, Respiratory, and Low Vision Therapy. We also offer 24-hour diagnostic imaging, laboratory, and emergency room services, as well as diabetes education and most recently, an Immediate Response Team.
With a highly skilled staff, a full range of services, new state-of-the-art facilities, and warm, caring environment condusive to healing and progress, Olean General Hospital is the ideal place for patients who live in the area and require sub-acute rehabilitative care.
We will be accepting referrals starting in August, 2006 but patients and family members who want to learn more about the program or who would like more information are invited to call Harriet Nevil, manager of the program, at (716) 375-4126.
The treatment team is committed to restoring as much normal functioning as possible in the shortest period of time.
