Diabetes Education

INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS AND CLASSES

The key to managing your diabetes is controlling blood glucose (sugar) levels and other factors that may cause complications. The Olean General Hospital offers many educational programs including classes. Registered Dietitians and Registered Nurses under the guidance of our Certified Diabetes Educator, Mary K. Fay, provide all the assistance you need.

Group Classes are taught by competent staff who listen to your needs and help you set individual goals

Classes are offered at least 11 times per year. Classes are held on either three consecutive Wednesdays or Saturdays from 8:30am-11:30 am.

The Workshop meets on Wednesdays or Saturdays depending on the month. The remaining 2007 Workshop Schedule is:

  • September 12,19,26 *Wednesdays
  • October 10,17,24 *Wednesdays
  • November 3,10,17 *Saturdays
  • December 5,12,19 *Wednesdays

    Most insurances pay all or part of the education fees, including Medicare.

    Individual Counseling is also provided by the same competent staff.

  • Blood Glucose Testing
  • Exercise
  • Sick Day Management
  • Foot, Dental and Eye Care
