Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation program at Olean General Hospital is under the direction of Rusty Moore, D.O. a Mayo-Clinic trained physiatrist.
A physiatrist is a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Physiatrists treat a wide range of problems from sore shoulders to spinal cord injuries. They see patients in all age groups and treat problems that touch upon all the major systems in the body.
The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation program treats people with functional limitations secondary to musculoskeletal and neurologic disorders. This may include non-surgical management of musculoskeletal injuries, amputations, carpal tunnel syndrome, spinal stenosis, lumbar radiculopathy (sciatica), arthritis and more. Services include thorough evaluation and recommendations for appropriate testing in order to design an individualized rehabilitation plan which may include therapy, modalities, injections, adaptive equipment and/or appropriate medications.
Dr. Moore performs nerve conduction studies to assess the health of the nerves and muscles, Botox injections for spasticity management, ultrasound guided joint or tendon injections, and lumbar epidural steroid injections.
