Laboratory ServicesThe Laboratory Services Department at Olean General Hospital is committed to providing rapid and accurate testing of body fluids for physicians in the treatment of their patients. With over 70% of physicians’ clinical decisions based on the results of laboratory testing, the Laboratory Services Department plays a critical and essential role in the diagnostic regimens for each patient. At some point during their treatment for inpatient or outpatient services, patients will undergo some type of laboratory test. This can even include the testing and collection of blood at our remote patient service centers as well as a home phlebotomy service for the collection of blood and urine samples. Our Team
The Laboratory Services Department is staffed with a team of highly trained and accredited medical technologists, phlebotomists, medical technicians, specimen handlers and a support staff dedicated to providing accurate results 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our Technology
The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation which includes the new Thin Layer Pap Smear technology for the screening of cervical cancer as well as automated analytical systems and DNA-probes. To assure the delivery and rapid services for patients, all of the equipment is tied together through an integrated laboratory information system.
