Emergency Medicine
Olean General's Emergency Department is open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week with a full complement of support services in diagnostic imaging, surgery, cardiopulmonary and laboratory analysis.
For critical cases requiring transportation over long distances or rough terrain, the Louis A Magnano Mercy Flight Center provides life saving air transportation to patients in need of tertiary care.
Our Approach
The overall approach in our Emergency Department focuses on the team of medical professionals all board certified or eligible and extremely proficient in emergency medicine. The Department offers emergency medical care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is for patients whose needs range from life-threatening conditions to less urgent needs like colds or cuts. Essential to its efficient operation is the triaging of patients according to the range of illnesses or conditions they present. Depending on the triaged need, patients are moved to either an Acute Care area or the Immediate Treatment Center.
The Emergency Department is state-of-the-art, capable of accommodating up to 17 patients in need of critical care, and utilizes an electronic patient record for efficiency and accuracy.
Benefits
The Emergency Department at Olean General provides benefits that include:
