Smoking Cessation
The Cardiopulmonary Team at Olean General Hospital urges all of its patients to quit smoking in order to avoid the many health complications that result from tobacco use.
Tobacco use is the most common preventable cause of death. Current figures state that approximately half of the people who do not quit using tobacco will die of tobacco-related problems. Tobacco use and smoking in particular is a modifiable risk factor for heart disease and national guidelines strongly recommend tobacco cessation counseling in order to help heart attack survivors who use tobacco or smoke to quit.
