Olean General Hospital Introduces Live Construction Camera For New Ambulatory Surgery Center
Posted on: 03/02/2011
Olean General Hospital (OGH) today announced the installation of a new live camera designed to help community members track the progress of construction on the new $10.3 million Ambulatory Surgery Center on Main Street. The camera gives a complete view of the construction site, and will provide a live feed for viewers.
“As construction continues on our new Ambulatory Surgery Center, this camera is a great way to keep the community informed on its progress,” said Timothy J. Finan, president and CEO of Upper Allegheny Health System and member hospitals Bradford Regional Medical Center and Olean General Hospital. “This new center will significantly enhance efficiency for patient care, and we eagerly await its opening.”
In addition to the new camera, monthly updates on the construction process will be posted on the hospital’s website. The new center consists of a 15,174 square foot addition to the current building at 500 Main Street, as well as a complete renovation of 6,384 square feet of existing space. Four new operating suites will be constructed, as well as three endoscopy labs, pre-operative and post-operative recovery areas, waiting rooms, consultation areas, and support space. Additionally, 23 new pre- and post-surgery beds will be installed.
“This project is moving along according to schedule, and we’ve already completed quite a bit of renovations and sitework,” said Ronald S. Mornelli, COO of Olean General Hospital. “The completion of this new Ambulatory Surgery Center will be extremely helpful in recruiting quality surgeons to the Olean area. Free-standing ambulatory surgery centers are now the standard of care for outpatient surgery, and we’re excited to bring this service to the region.”
Olean General Hospital’s Ambulatory Surgery Center was designed by Clark Patterson Lee, and construction is managed by E.E. Austin & Son, Inc. Workers have already completed several aspects of the site preparation phase. Foundation work will continue through mid-April, when the erection of structural steel is slated to begin. Groundbreaking for construction began in October 2010, and the expected completion date is scheduled for March 2012.
