2010 Annual Campaign
Sometimes hospitals can be overwhelming and intimidating, especially when patients are facing surgery.
Olean General Hospital will soon begin building a new Ambulatory Surgical Center across the street from the main hospital. The construction of the Ambulatory Surgical Center will provide the Olean area with the same type of outpatient facility available in communities across the country and will be a facility that provides significant patient amenities.
What is an Ambulatory Surgical Center?
Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC), also known as Outpatient Surgical Centers or Same-Day Surgical Centers, are efficient healthcare facilities that specialize in providing procedures and services in an outpatient setting. The Center will be staffed with highly-trained and licensed healthcare and medical professionals and will house full surgical and endoscopy suites. It will provide patients with a wide array of therapeutic and diagnostic ambulatory procedures in a convenient comfortable place. A stream-lined preoperative process will allow patients to arrive shortly before their procedures and proceed directly to a preoperative area where they will meet their anesthesiologist. Wait times for patients and physicians will be minimized. Emergency cases, which can disrupt and delay the OR schedule in the main hospital environment, will be eliminated.
This state-of-the-art ASC will provide high quality, convenient and patient-centered care which will increase satisfaction and significantly help recruit additional well-trained surgeons to our community.
