Olean General Hospital is committed to the education and training of future physicians through active involvement in medical education at multiple levels.
State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine
Through an affiliation with Olean General Hospital, the State University of New York at Buffalo sponsors New York State's only rural track family medicine residency program at the hospital. Residents in this program spend an initial year in Buffalo and their second and third years in Olean. The program is directed by full time on site University of Buffalo faculty members and provides residents with a comprehensive exposure to the practice of medicine in a rural environment.
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM)
Olean General Hospital, through an affiliation agreement with the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania, provides clinical rotations for medical students in internal and emergency medicine.
St. Bonaventure University
Olean General Hospital provides St. Bonaventure University premedical students the opportunity to experience, first hand, a clinical environment and to explore issues surrounding the practice of medicine which are not typically covered in traditional premedical courses. Students participate in a 14 week rotation and are exposed to various clinical specialties and diagnostic modalities. Participation in the program provides students an in depth exposure to many of the realities of a career in medicine.
